From 2017 to 2018, Huang Yichuan took photos of many primary schools and kindergartens in Shanghai and Guangzhou, and chose the target of committing crimes. In the end, it attacked the students and parents of Shanghai World Foreign Language Primary School, resulting in two deaths and two injuries. The court held that the defendant Huang Yichuan’s criminal motive was extremely despicable, his criminal means were extremely cruel, his criminal consequences were extremely serious and his social impact was extremely bad. Although he was identified as suffering from mental illness, he was assessed as having limited criminal responsibility. However, in view of his extremely serious crime and great personal danger, and his mental illness has no obvious impact on his ability to identify and control his own behavior when committing crimes, he should be severely punished according to law.
