Earlier this Wednesday (9th), Erdogan announced the launch of a military operation codenamed "Peace Fountain" against Kurdish armed forces and IS terrorists in northern Syria, and said that the goal of the operation was to eliminate the terrorist threat to Turkey and establish a safe area in the region for millions of Syrian refugees to return home. On the third day of the operation, the Turkish Ministry of Defence announced that the Turkish army had eliminated at least 277 Kurdish militiamen, and the first soldier of the Turkish army was killed that day.
